Building Blocks (Breaking the Sound Barrier)

Yes, the college faculty was appalled…but the student body wanted to hear the songs of the hour.  I was fortunate to be part of this musical revolution, and played to the dismay of the faculty and radio staff…close your eyes and hold your ears…top hits by The Eagles; Fleetwood Mac; Crosby, Stills and Nash; Heart; Queen; and even Abba! And, as if “his terrible taste in music…if you can even call it music”, was not enough, in 1978 I changed the intro to my show to:

(music tape of Cream song) “In the white room with black curtains near the station…”

(me live) “Welcome to the Steve Scott show!”

However, in 1978 I, thankfully, can not take credit for asking the faculty advisor for permission to play a song from the then hit Broadway musical Hair.  However, I was fortunate to see the advisor’s face when the song hit the airways with the ‘F’ word.  Needless to say, a tighter rein was placed on the student DJ song selections.

Think about your ‘building blocks’; we can not write without them.
